Poor Engineering
The extended base plate fits my Glock43x mag just fine. It locks into the tabs on the sides of your mag just like the OEM base plate. But it deletes the spring cover with the pin that extends through the bottom of the OEM baseplate. Instead there is a wedge shaped cap that fits on the end of the SI baseplate. It’s kind of like a Pierce grip cap, filling in the extra space (but on the baseplate, not in the grip). The problem is, that piece just has two little tiny tabs to hold it in place. If that wedged piece hits the heel of your hand while reloading, it falls off. If it catches on your shirt while the mag is in your mag holder, it falls off. I feel that the SI baseplate is probably secure enough without the addition of the wedge but I can’t be sure. And it definitely looks funny with the big gap at the end of the extended mag. I won’t be using this product.
